ABOUT US

We are passionate about sharing the power of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. To us, Jiu-Jitsu is more than a martial art; it’s a journey of self-discovery, discipline, and personal growth.

On the mats, we challenge each other to push our limits and keep learning. Every roll is an opportunity to grow — to test yourself, to improve, and to build confidence that carries into every part of life.

Our academy is built on respect, hard work, and the belief that progress comes from showing up and putting in the effort, one session at a time.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a form of grappling that evolved from Japanese Jiu-Jitsu and was honed in Brazil through full contact encounters, giving rise to the style we know today. It's renowned for its ground techniques, where practitioners learn how to throw, pin, control and submit an opponent without striking them.

Tuesdays 19:00 - 20:30

Thursdays 19:00 - 20:30

Wednesdays AM 07:00 - 08:00

No-Gi / Submission Wrestling

No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu, also known as submission wrestling, is a variant of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) where practitioners do not wear a traditional Gi or Kimono. This makes it more applicable to MMA and self defence situations where there is no clothing to grab onto. Techniques in No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu are generally faster paced and more dynamic than the Gi focusing more on control, transitions and submissions.

Mondays  19:00 - 20:30

Open Mat

Open Mat sessions allow students to train in either gi or no-gi. The focus is usually on lots of sparring, but students always have the option to work on techniques instead. These sessions tend to have a more relaxed, social feel to them with a buzzing atmosphere, giving members extra time to practice skills or roll with each other.

Fridays  19:00 - 20:30

Kids Classes

Our Kids Classes are designed to make learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu enjoyable and safe. All instructors are fully DBS-checked. Younger children learn through game-based activities that help build fitness, coordination, and fundamental skills. Older children take part in more structured classes that focus on technique, discipline, and teamwork. We also offer Parent & Child sessions, giving families the chance to train and progress together.

FAQs

1. Do I need prior martial arts experience to start?

Not at all. Our classes are designed for beginners and experienced practitioners alike, with a focus on learning solid fundamentals and building skill over time.

2. What should I wear to my first class?

For gi classes, you can wear your own gi or borrow one of our spare gis. For no-gi classes, a rashguard and MMA shorts are ideal — if you don’t have them yet, regular shorts and a training t-shirt are fine.

3. How often should I train?

That depends on your goals. Many students train two to four times a week to see steady progress, while others train less often for fitness or self-defense. Whatever your schedule, consistency is key.

4. Is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu safe?

Yes. Our classes and techniques are taught and structured in a safe, controlled way. As training partners, it’s important that we look after each other and maintain a respectful environment on the mats.

5. Can I compete in tournaments?

Yes. We support anyone who wants to compete and offer guidance and training to help you prepare. Plenty of our members train for self-defense and self-improvement, while others aim to compete seriously.
